The Comfortable Sleep Environment Institute (CIL) was established in Showa 18 by the Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology as Japan’s first inspection research organization specializing in down. Q. Concerned about the smell of the down comforter. A. Since down is a natural material, it is not odorless. The raw feathers are cleaned to reduce the smell as much as possible, but it may be noticeable immediately after unpacking or depending on the temperature and humidity of the environment.

Countermeasure 2: Dry the down comforter. Hanging it in a shaded, well-ventilated area can alleviate the melting of fats and oils. Spraying deodorant used for clothing and bedding can cause moisture and have the opposite effect.

Due to compact packaging, the restoration rate of the down immediately after unpacking is about 50-80% depending on the environment such as temperature and humidity. By performing air massage and shade drying, the comforter will restore to its original fluffiness within about two weeks of use. Air massage involves patting each mass of the comforter to include air in the down, restoring the fluffiness immediately after unpacking.

Q. Are the black spots inside the comforter mold? A. They are colored down. It is not mold. Occasionally, even in white duck or goose, colored down may be mixed. There is no quality issue.
