【Origin of the Name】
The origin of Seki swordsmithing dates back to the Kamakura period when a swordsmith from Kyushu settled in Seki (Mino), blessed with high-quality soil, water, and charcoal, to start sword making.
Many famous swords were born, but the master “Kanemoto of Seki” crafted unique swords that were beautiful, highly artistic, and exceptionally sharp.
As times changed from the Edo to Meiji periods, many Seki swordsmiths transitioned to the production of household cutlery.
The belief that Seki swords were “unbreakable, unbendable, and cut well” has been firmly passed down to modern knife making.
The name “Kanemoto” on this product is attributed to the 27th-generation master Kanemoto, Kaneko Kanemoto, who conveys the sharpness to the present while utilizing the craftsmanship.
