【Origin of Seki Magoroku】
In the Kamakura period, swordsmiths who relocated from Kyushu to Seki (Mino) began crafting swords in this area blessed with quality soil, water, and charcoal, marking the origin of Seki swordsmithing.
Many renowned swords were created, but the master “Seki no Magoroku” devised a unique sword-making method, producing exquisite and artistic works with outstanding sharpness.
As the era transitioned from Edo to Meiji, many of Seki’s swordsmiths shifted to the production of household cutlery.
The belief that Seki swords “do not break, do not bend, and cut well” has been firmly inherited in modern cutlery making.
The name “Seki Magoroku” on this product is by the 27th generation Kanemoto, swordsmith Kaneko Magoroku, who continues to convey the sharpness through masterful techniques to the present day.
